Why exactly is “Do you hear the People sing?” from the new Les Miserables film not included in the film’s soundtrack? (And great substitutes)

In the film the young rebels await anxiously, but with a smile, to ambush the marching French Army.  And their action is ignited by the amazing song “Do you hear the people sing?” which, if you have not heard it, will give you goosebumps!

I was so looking forward to hearing the song while visualizing  images of that scene in the movie but after buying the soundtrack without previewing the list (I assumed they wouldn’t leave such a wonderful song out-it seems right next to “Dreamed a Dream” in terms of importance to me) I was astonished to see it was not included  :(

-you can preview or buy any of the songs in the list by clicking on them-please use the list pertaining to your country-

Check the album list for yourself; see? It is not there:

Not There!  It was a beautiful song sung as a chorus by the young rebellions to give one of the best movie/musical ballads I have ever heard!  It really moves you!

So I searched iTunes and downloaded it from two other Les Mis Albums:

1. This one is beautiful with a chorus like in the film.  It is helpful to put a face to the amazing singers and imagine them singing it.

Like these faces for example; and while you’re putting faces to songs listen (below) to track 15 and imagine these boys singing it-it’s amazinggg!!!

From Les Miserables The Original London Cast Album (2009)- Preview ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ at Track 10 (and ‘Drink with me’ at Track 15) :

2.  Another beautiful version of this song.  Again it helps to put faces to these guy’s singing and imagine them rallying and ‘talk-singing’ to each other.

From Les Miserables The Original Broadway Cast Recording (1987)- Preview ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ at Track 16 :
